Consulting in supply chain, manufacturing and SAP.
Six areas covering the flow from customer order to finished product, from process analysis to the SAP solution. I can take on a single area or lead the whole programme.
Many planning problems have nothing to do with the system: they come from undefined rules, unclear responsibilities and information passed from hand to hand. Before choosing or configuring any software, you need to understand how the process really works.
What I do
- Mapping of supply chain, production planning and scheduling processes
- Analysis of capacity, bottlenecks and lead times
- Analysis and cleansing of master and technical data (materials, BOMs, routings, work centres, planning parameters), the foundation of reliable planning
- Rules, roles and KPIs for the planning process
- Design of the S&OP cycle and planning levels, from the sales plan to shop-floor sequencing
- Requirements for selecting ERP, MES and scheduling tools
Typical roles
- Process consultant
- Business Analyst
- ICT Advisor
Moving to S/4HANA is a chance to rethink processes, not just to change systems. It takes someone who can hold the technical and the business decisions together.
What I do
- AS-IS / TO-BE assessment of supply chain and manufacturing processes
- Transformation roadmap and SAP ECC conversion plan
- Future process design and fit-gap analysis
- Leading the functional teams through to go-live
Typical roles
- Solution Architect
- Project Manager
- ICT Advisor
Plans that ignore real capacity, MRP that generates noise, departments working outside the system: these are the most common signs of a planning process that needs rethinking.
What I do
- Planning process design: S&OP, MPS, MRP
- Discrete (PP) and process (PP-PI) manufacturing
- Make-to-order and make-to-stock production
- Demand Planning and forecasting
Typical roles
- Senior Business Consultant – Production Planning
- Business Analyst
Project-based manufacturers need to see project structure, costs, progress and the status of related production in one place.
What I do
- Project structure with WBS and networks in SAP Project System
- Budget, cost planning and progress tracking
- Link between project, procurement and production
- Processes for Engineering & Construction and large plants
Typical roles
- Senior Business Consultant – Project System
- Project Manager
When every order is different, product rules must live in a single model that drives quotation, BOM, routing and cost. Otherwise they stay in the engineering department's spreadsheets.
What I do
- Configurable product modelling: characteristics, classes, constraints
- SAP Variant Configuration, both LO-VC and Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC)
- Configurable BOMs and routings (super BOM, super routing)
- Integration with quotation, pricing and costing
Typical roles
- Solution Architect, product structure (PLM) – Variant Configuration
Engineering data originates in PLM, the plan is made in SAP, confirmations come from the shop floor. If these three worlds don't talk to each other, the plan soon stops being reliable.
What I do
- PLM–SAP and CAD integration: BOMs, routings, documents
- Engineering Change Management and Document Management
- ERP–MES integration and shop-floor data collection
- Finite-capacity scheduling with APS tools connected to SAP
Typical roles
- Solution Architect, product structure (PLM)
- Senior Business Consultant – MES Integration
